Senior Engineering Professional – Hydromechanical (Montreal)
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Hydromechanical Engineer to join our aerospace engineering team in Montreal. In this role, you will provide technical leadership in the design, analysis, integration, and certification of hydromechanical systems for aircraft. You will collaborate closely with systems, structures, avionics, hydraulics, and flight controls teams to ensure safe, reliable, and high‑performance system operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, integration, and validation of hydromechanical systems such as landing gear, actuation systems, braking systems, and hydraulic components
- Define system architecture, functional requirements, performance criteria, and interface specifications
- Conduct detailed analyses including hydraulic performance, actuation loads, system dynamics, and failure modes
- Review engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with design intent and certification requirements
- Support system modeling, simulation, and testing activities (bench tests, rig tests, flight test support)
- Investigate system issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and develop corrective actions
- Prepare and review technical documentation including requirements, design reports, test plans, and compliance evidence
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration with flight controls, avionics, structures, and manufacturing
- Support certification activities with regulatory authorities (TCCA, FAA, EASA)
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Extensive experience in hydromechanical or hydraulic systems engineering within the aerospace industry
- Strong understanding of hydraulic circuits, actuators, valves, pumps, accumulators, and system dynamics
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, system schematics, and technical documentation
- Experience with modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent)
- Familiarity with aerospace certification requirements and safety assessment processes
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
- Fluent in both French and English (spoken and written)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with aircraft development programs at an OEM or Tier‑1 supplier
- Knowledge of landing gear systems, flight control actuation, or hydraulic power generation
- Experience with model‑based systems engineering (MBSE)
- Familiarity with ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO‑160, or similar standards
