Senior Professional Engineering – FBW & Secondary Flight Control Systems (Montreal)

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Professional Engineer specializing in Fly‑By‑Wire (FBW) and Secondary Flight Control Systems to join our aerospace engineering team in Montreal. In this role, you will provide technical leadership in the design, integration, analysis, and certification of advanced flight control systems. You will collaborate closely with avionics, systems, structures, software, and flight test teams to ensure safe, reliable, and high‑performance aircraft control solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, integration, and validation of FBW and secondary flight control systems
  • Define system architecture, control laws, functional requirements, and performance criteria
  • Review and interpret engineering specifications, system schematics, and certification standards
  • Support system modeling, simulation, and analysis activities to evaluate performance and safety
  • Participate in system integration activities, including lab testing, HIL/SIL simulations, and flight test support
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis and develop corrective actions for system issues or anomalies
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including requirements, design reports, test plans, and compliance evidence
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration with avionics, hydraulics, structures, and software
  • Support certification activities with regulatory authorities (TCCA, FAA, EASA)
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in flight control systems engineering, including FBW and secondary control systems
  • Strong understanding of control laws, system dynamics, and aircraft handling qualities
  • Experience with system modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, system schematics, and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with aerospace certification requirements and safety assessment processes
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Fluent in both French and English (spoken and written)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with aircraft development programs at an OEM or Tier‑1 supplier
  • Knowledge of flight test processes and data analysis
  • Experience with model‑based systems engineering (MBSE)
