Professional, Engineering – Flight Deck Integration & Human Factors (Montreal)

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Flight Deck Integration & Human Factors Engineer to join our aerospace engineering team in Montreal. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and integration of flight deck systems with a strong focus on pilot usability, safety, ergonomics, and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with avionics, systems, human factors, and certification teams to ensure the flight deck environment supports optimal pilot performance and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the integration of flight deck systems, controls, displays, and interfaces
  • Apply human factors engineering principles to ensure safe, intuitive, and ergonomic cockpit design
  • Conduct human‑machine interface (HMI) evaluations, usability assessments, and pilot workload analyses
  • Review and interpret engineering requirements, system specifications, and certification standards
  • Participate in flight deck design reviews, simulations, mock‑ups, and usability trials
  • Collaborate with avionics, systems engineering, and flight test teams to resolve integration issues
  • Support the development of cockpit layouts, control placements, and display configurations
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to human factors assessments, compliance reports, and design justifications
  • Ensure all flight deck designs meet regulatory requirements (TCCA, FAA, EASA) and industry standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to cockpit design, human factors processes, and integration methodologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics, or a related field
  • Experience in flight deck design, avionics integration, or human factors engineering within the aerospace industry
  • Strong understanding of human factors principles, pilot‑vehicle interaction, and cockpit ergonomics
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, system schematics, and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and certification requirements for human factors and cockpit design
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Fluent in both French and English (spoken and written)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with flight simulators, mock‑ups, or virtual reality tools for cockpit evaluation
  • Knowledge of avionics systems, display technologies, and flight deck architecture
  • Experience with human factors testing, data collection, and analysis
  • Background in an aerospace OEM or flight deck development program
